1. How much does it cost to have water services turned on?

There is a $50 refundable water deposit.

2. How much are City Stickers and when are they due?

For Current Dyer Residents:

January 1 – April 15, City stickers are $30.00 each.

After April 15, City stickers are $72.00 each.


3. If I have a swimming pool, do I have to have a fence around it?


Yes.

4. Can I put a mobile home inside of the city limits?


Only in an approved trailer court.


5. Can I put a modular home inside the city limits?

Yes. It requires a building permit, solid foundation, & the home must pass all building codes approved by the building inspector.

6. Is there an ordinance concerning burning in the city limits?

Yes. Code Section 13-108. The rules applicable to this ordinance are as follows:

1. Leaves may only be burned inside the City Limits of Dyer on Fridays and Saturdays between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.
2. No burning shall take place within fifty (50) feet of any structure.
3. The fire must be attended by a person at all times; moreover, a water hose must be available and connected to a source of water sufficient to reach the burning site and reasonable surrounding area.
4. No burning shall take place when the wind is of sufficient force to create a dangerous situation in that the leaves cannot be
burned safely.
5. No burning of leaves shall take place if prohibited by any other order or directive of any other government agency or official; or fire official of the city.
6. Any damages caused as a result of the burning of leaves to the property of others may be the responsibility of the person
burning said leaves and/or the owner of the property where the leaves are burned.
7. Violation of these rules and/or any ordinance of the city relating to open burning of leaves shall be subject to court citations, fines, and costs.
8. It shall be the duty of the person burning the leaves of the owner of the property on which said leaves are being burned to see that the burning is done in a safe and cautious manner; and that the burning of said leaves shall be the risk and responsibility of those involved in said burning.

7. Do I need a permit for a swimming pool?

Yes. You must obtain a building permit. The cost of the permit will be determined by the value of the pool. Contact City Hall for more information.

8. Who do I call on the weekend if I have a water or sewer problem?


Call Central Control at 731-692-3714. The City of Dyer always has an employee on call for emergencies.
