Mayor Ray Carroll recently signed grant contracts that will enable improvements at the railroad crossings on East College Street and Parkview Drive. The grants are awarded through the Tennessee Department of Transportation, and will make the crossings smoother for traffic, and will increase safety by installing signs and other safety features.

Mayor Carroll said, “We’ve been working on these projects for a few years; initially, it seemed like only the Parkview crossing would be improved, but I think it’s obvious that College Street is much more important to our community. Fortunately we were able to convince them to improve College also. If all goes as planned, we anticipate a grant to improve the Maple Street crossing as well.”
